The Costantini Art Gallery presents the exhibition "The Book of the air" last project of the Spanish Joanpere Massana, an evolution of its previous location, "The Book of Water", which was officially presented in Italy at the PAN (Palazzo delle Arti Napoli ) in the Pinacoteca di Jesi and ended with a traveling exhibition in four museums in Spain.
For the occasion Skira will edit a catalog will be published where sixty works, where you can appreciate the artistic production of Massana in its entirety, ranging from mixed media on canvas and works on paper.
The new cycle of works is as always characterized by the association of materiality and flatness. The first inlaid with disparate materials accentuated tactile nature, which act as symbols and evoke biomorphic elements, and the second in the surfaces and in the backgrounds, places and hypothetical neutral hosting inscriptions, signs and symbols.
In the works of this series, the artist accentuates than in the past its propensity to a type of pictorial composition, noting that the unity of the individual works. Works that are in every case to look at as a whole but also to "read" as if they were pages full of symbols, signs and words.
The symbolism evokes the dialectic that characterizes the individual lives and the social construction of the individual. Materials and inserts recall is the genealogy of life (fertilization, birth, regeneration, hybridization) that the bloom or the limits that mark the course of each other's lives.
